The Homestead Retreat  is a Kenya Youth Futures development project in partnership with One Heart Foundation (, that will generate high school scholarship funds for rural students who have no way forward to complete their high school education without financial assistance. The five-bedroom farm house is comfortable for guests, and is listed on the Airbnb platform.

The income generated from guest stays will be used to generate both income for scholarships and jobs and training for local people. Local craft and trades people who desperately needed employment and were willing to offer their skills were employed to completely refurbish the Homestead Retreat*. This is now completed and the result is a wonderful relaxing farmhouse stay in rural Kenya.

When guests stay at the Homestead Retreat, their stay provides direct scholarship funds for high school students at the One Heart School. A majority of students at the school are unable to proceed with high school education without funding. The success of this project will help ensure that the students at One Heart School can attend high school and receive an education that will provide a path out of poverty.

Due to the global Covid-19 pandemic, international bookings are not feasible at this time. However, we can facilitate local bookings for meetings, seminars, project accomodation etc. There is ample opportunity to then go on safari to the Serengeti or Masai Mara or simply enjoy the flavour of the local community. We are depending on local patronage in order to continue scholarship funding.

Up to 10 guests can stay at the Homestead retreat at any one time with full board and lodgings. This lovely quiet rural location is an ideal venue for family holidays, or business training events.

Bookings may be made via the Airbnb website:

*Our thanks to Meridian Global Foundation for their generous support in the refurbishment process.
